More and more people in the UK are reaching retirement age without having a plan. According to the UK-born Chief Executive of Guardian Wealth Management, David Howell, it’s very difficult to live on the state pension. It’s just £107.45 a week. If you’re a UK citizen, no matter what stage of life you’re in, there ...
Residents and working citizens of the UK are likely familiar with the National Employment Savings Trust (NEST). But what some may not know is that NEST is a pension scheme for employers and self-employed individuals. NEST satisfies the standards and guidelines established by the Pensions Act of 2008. However, as of 2012, employers are required ...
When thinking about the cost of college, chances are, your mind wanders immediately to the price of tuition. Then, living expenses, food and books probably come to mind. Students are not fully responsible for these costs, but they add up nevertheless. Wherever the funding comes from—financial aid, savings, etc.—the fact remains that the costs of ...
Guardian Wealth Management: David Howell Focuses on Clients
At Guardian Wealth Management, David Howell and his team endeavour to focus on the client. This may sound simple and it may sound obvious, yet it is amazing how many wealth management firms fail to deliver truly high standards of client service and care.
That is not the case with Guardian Wealth Management, David Howell, or his team; this is a firm that was founded on the desire to put the client first, and it remains true to that vision to this day.
Here’s what some Guardian Wealth Management customers have said about the company
“This company has been advising me for the past 17 years. During this time I have found them to be professional and positive in respect of advice. I have recommended them to family and friends who have all been very satisfied with the service given.”
Margaret, Malton in the UK
“All our dealings with the Guardian Wealth Management office in Doha have been extremely beneficial; there is an excellent onsite team who provide us with the information we need to make informed decisions about our wealth planning, all delivered with a professional yet personal touch.”
Garry Looker, COO Finance, Qatar Gas
“Arriving in Qatar and knowing that I would have more disposable income than before, I realised the need for greater discipline and the opportunity to develop more long term financial planning. After discussing my needs with a few advisors and firms, I had an initial meeting with Guardian Wealth. Not only did I feel that they were the first company to actually listen to my needs, they took the appropriate time to identify the vehicles that suited my needs and not necessarily theirs.”
“I’m very pleased & feel comfortable to be working with Guardian and find it an additional benefit that they provide informative workshops and some fun additional activities on top…at no additional cost!”
Shawn Cramer, Head of Employee Benefits, Maerskoil Qatar
Guardian Wealth Company History
The story of Guardian Wealth Management begins on a small scale — with David Howell, who, at the age of 18, dipped his toes into the insurance business. This early experience gave him a solid foundation in the world of finance, but it also made him eager to strike out on his own, and to start a new kind of company, solely on his terms. And so he set out for Australia, living and working there for a few years, further accumulating business experience, and ultimately returning home to the UK.
In the UK, he began to think seriously about launching his own firm. He drew inspiration from a couple of sources—an entrepreneurial uncle, and a trusted mentor/employer. Both men imparted to him some valuable lessons in business ownership, and both men encouraged him to launch his own firm.
The firm he started was originally called Keystone Consultancy—and the original vision for the company was to provide a suite of financial and wealth advisory services to citizens of the UK. That goal was noble in its own right, but it was not long before Howell realized that his company needed to evolve.
David Howell Grows the Company
What David realised was that the lives of his clients were changing rapidly. These UK citizens were increasingly taking up residence out of the country, or else seeking international investment opportunities. At the time, there was no financial services company to keep up with those ever in-flux lifestyle changes—so David decided to fill that gap.
The newly-named Guardian Wealth Management was born. In re-branding the company, David also partnered with a number of new business associates, who brought increased international experience to the firm. Guardian began opening offices throughout Europe, and to this day it stands as one of Europe’s most esteemed wealth management firms.
But Howell and his Guardian team also set their sights beyond Europe. They looked to the Middle East—a prosperous and growing region in which many UK citizens are beginning to find immense opportunities. Guardian has expanded into the Middle East, and has offices in multiple Middle Eastern countries.
Here’s David Howell talking on the BBC.
